Law enforcement from Antelope County and the Nebraska State Patrol joined the Elgin Volunteer Fire Department and EMTs to do a mock car accident training event at the St. Boniface gym parking lot. Nebraska State Fire Marshal Training Specialist William “Bill” Pfeifer led the training exercise. Looking on were students from Pope John and Elgin Public schools as they surrounded and listened to Pfeifer (center) on how extrication is done when the situation arises. To conclude the exercise, a LifeNet helicopter was flown to the nearby ball field by pilot James Score. The exercise, held Thursday afternoon, took approximately two hours to complete.
