Funeral services for James “Jim” Reicks, 61, were held Tuesday morning, May 10, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2200 25th St., in Columbus, NE. Visitation was held Monday, May 9 at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus.
A graveside service was held at 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, May 10, at West Cedar Valley Cemetery in Elgin, NE.

James “Jim” Reicks, 61, of Columbus, NE was called home to his father on May 5, 2016.
Jim was born August 12, 1954 in Petersburg, NE to LaVerne and Rita (Ketteler) Reicks.
When Jim was a young boy, the family moved to Red Cloud, NE. He graduated from Red Cloud High School in 1972 and the University of Nebraska-Kearney in 1991.
Jim married Shirley McLain in August of 1987 in Elgin, NE. From this union they were blessed to raise 4 children. Jim worked as a driver’s license examiner for Platte and Colfax Counties for 24 years.
His passion for the outdoors was evident in his love for hunting, four-wheeling, and camping with his family.
He also enjoyed Husker Football and helping out farming with friends.
He is survived by: Wife Shirley Reicks of Columbus; Son Corey (Rachel) Spanel and Grandson Gage Spanel of Yutan, NE; Son Dan Reicks of Harrisburg, SD; Daughter Kayla Reicks of Columbus; Daughter Brooke Henry of Columbus; Mother Rita Reicks of Omaha; Sisters Luann Reicks of Omaha, Bev (Kathy Pettersen) Reicks of Omaha, and Pam Reicks of Salt Lake City, UT; Brothers Dave (Dana) Reicks of Hastings, Jeff (Rhonda) Reicks of Lincoln, and Scott Reicks of Lincoln; as well as numerous nieces and nephews
Jim was preceded in death by: Father: LaVerne Reicks; Infant Brother Michael Reicks; and Father-in-law Don McLain
